| Ward Kurenoff, Mr. Perfect so far in his CFL picks, shows off the Grey Cup, which is presently possessed by the B.C. Lions. |
Ward Kurenoff, a.k.a. younger bother -- he who puts the I in sibling rivalry -- was oh-so quick to point out Friday night that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and B.C. Lions, respective victors in their CFL clashes, were his pigskin picks.
He said Bucky would get lucky and the Blue Bombers certainly did. The Winnipeggers regained some lost swagger and put a dagger in the Argos with a 44-32 beat-down right in Hogtown, where the Maple Leafs, Raptors, FC Toronto and Blue Jays know all about losing, too.
Then, minus the services of MVP QB Travis Lulay and six other star starters, the Lions scored 20 unanswered points late in the fourth quarter thanks to a (Mike) Reilly big show at BC Place Stadium to freeze the Edmonton Eskimos 39-19 and clinch first place in the West Division. Yep, Ward picked that, too.So there's two games on the CFL schedule today with the hot-and-cold Montreal Alouettes playing his rock-n-roll Roughriders in Saskatchewan (12:30 p.m., TSN, pre-game show and watermelon fitting starts 30 minutes earlier) and the sluggish Hamilton Tiger-Cats moooove into Cowtown to face the Calgary Stampeders (4 p.m., TSN) at McMahon Stadium.
Ward picked Saskatchewan and Calgary. If he gets those two right, it's going to be one tough week listening to Mr. Perfect!
And, by the way, when the NHL gets back to playing on ice instead of the board room, Ward will be trying to defend his hockey pool title. Yes, he won last year's Wrecking Crew hockey pool on the final week beating the nicest guy in the world (smile, blush, hi!) in the process.
Yep, have a great weekend.
